Heidi Voss Receives Special Recognition Award

I have seen his presentation once before and I knew that we were in for a treat. My husband Todd, past president of OTF, encouraged me to sit near the front. Prior to Dick’s talk the organization gives out awards and scholarships to deserving students and industry professionals.

My other dear friend (I only have two), Joe Enciso, was the master of ceremonies. Joe began to introduce the next award recipient for “The Presidents Special Recognition Award” and he started his talk with the following: “To say this person has passion would be like saying Tiger Woods was in a small car accident.” Well, at this point I started to converse with my seat mate Carl and we began to tell each other Tiger jokes. As you know, there are many! Shortly I heard the words, “Mrs. Voss, please come to the stage.” Needless to say I had no idea what the award was for and I was completely speechless. That is something that is rarely witnessed. I was also chewing gum. How embarrassing! The award was in recognition for the many hours spent helping the Foundation with strategy sessions, the charity auction and just providing council to the past President – my husband. It was such an honor and I must admit it is the first award that I have ever received. It is cherished and hanging in my office to remind me that the volunteer work is the most rewarding!
