Bauer Voss Welcomes Awarri Dunes
This new golf course and residential community is going to feature a Jim Engh designed private golf course, comfortable clubhouse designed to complement the golf experience, an indoor and outdoor golf academy sponsored by the University of Nebraska, Kearney and a limited number of premier homesites that will offer unparalleled views of golf.
In September, Heidi visited Kearney and met with several of the Founding members and toured the project site. A demographic study was conducted by Bauer Voss of the 10-20-30 mile area surrounding the Club and the results showed an outstanding opportunity for a Club of this caliber that focuses on the pure golf experience with an emphasis on a strong golf academy.
The course will be designed with an Irish links flair featuring some blow out bunkers, fescue grassing and a layout that is suitable for those that enjoying walking but carts will also be available.
Recently, course architect Jim Engh had this to say about the course, “The rolling character of the land reminds me in many ways of some of the softer Irish links courses. Maybe in the mold of a County Louth or Caste Rock. Certainly the larger hills/dunes on the land will provide drama and excitement, but it is the gentle and quirky rolls and falls of the native landforms that most inspire me with this project. Very little if any excavation will occur over the entire project. In fact, there will be no disturbance to the existing grasses and vegetation. Basically, the quirks in the land, that are impossible to create, will be preserved.”
